Channeling Stock - rising channel and falling channel.
Stock channeling technique is one of the most efficient and widely used trading technique. Price channel represents price movement bound by parallel lower (support) and upper (resistance) trend lines. Channels with rising trend lines (rising channel) are considered bullish and the falling channel is considered as bearish . Channels are continuation formations as far as support and resistance are not broken.
Trading technique:
# 1
Buy channeling stock on support and sell on resistance.
# 2 For bullish channel: sell channeling stock when price breakes the stock channeling support line. For bearish channel: buy channeling stock when price breaks the resistance line.
Tips:
# 1 For the best results, stock channeling should be considered together with other technical analysis signals and technical trading techniques.
Estimated Target: the main trend support/resistance line.

It was a fourth consecutive positive week for the American Electric Power (AEP). During the week, the AEP gained 2.31 points, or 3.34%, and closed at 71.56 on Friday, July 06, 2018. It was the best weekly gain since February 16, 2018. AEP was trading at average weekly trading volume.

AEP is a member of Utilities Sector. Utilities is the most overbought sector. Sector/industry rotation is considered a proven strategy to beat the market. Use the following links to find overbought/oversold technical indicators by Sector or by Industry.

Long-term trend: [See AEP long-term trend chart]
A long-term uptrend had started on March 31, 2009 at 24.00 and reached 78.07 on December 4, 2017. AEP gained -54.07 points, or -225.29%, in 452 weeks. The chart has formed a Rising Channel chart pattern. The price is near the trend support (71.39) line. The support is usually stronger when technical indicators are oversold. Use the following links to access Trend Support/Resistance Help, or use the Technical Stock Screener to see the list of stocks with price testing the trend support line in a long-term trend.

Medium-term trend: [See AEP medium-term trend chart]
A medium-term downtrend had started on December 4, 2017 at 78.07 and reached 62.71 on June 11, 2018. AEP lost 15.36 points, or 19.67%, in 27 weeks. The chart has formed a Falling Wedge chart pattern. The downtrend resistance line (62.58) is broken. Usually a broken resistance is considered to be a long-term bullish signal, but since daily indicators are overbought a short-term pull back is possible. AEP may retest the broken resistance line. It is considered to be a support line now. Use the following links to access Trend Support/Resistance Help, or use the Technical Stock Screener to see the list of stocks with broken trend resistance line in a medium-term trend.

Weekly Technical Indicators: [See AEP weekly technical indicators chart]
Weekly Williams' Percentage Range is strongly overbought. Use the Technical Stock Screener to see the list of stocks with strongly overbought weekly overbought Williams' Percentage Range. Oscillators are designed to signal a possible trend reversal. They can act as alerts and should be taken in conjunction with other technical analysis tools. Oscillators can be used to confirm other technical signals. Use the following link to access Williams' Percentage Range help.

The weekly MACD line is above its signal line since June 22, 2018. The distance between MACD and the signal line is low, but getting bigger. Use the following link to access a MACD help.

Short-term trend: [See AEP short-term trend chart]
A short-term uptrend had started on June 29, 2018 at 68.50 and reached 71.73 on July 6, 2018. AEP gained -3.23 points, or -4.72%, in 7 days. The price is now at the 5.26% retracement level.

Daily Technical Indicators: [See AEP daily technical indicators chart]
Daily Relative Strength Index, Williams' Percentage Range and Lane's Stochastic are strongly overbought. Use the Technical Stock Screener to see the list of stocks with strongly overbought daily overbought Relative Strength Index, Williams' Percentage Range and Lane's Stochastic. Daily Lane's Stochastic and MACD have bearish divergence. Use the following links to access the Lane's Stochastic and MACD help, or use the Technical Stock Screener to see the list of stocks with daily Lane's Stochastic and MACD bearish divergence. The divergence between price and indicator is considering one of the most important buy/sell stocks trading signal. Use the following links to access Lane's Stochastic and Relative Strength Index help.

The daily MACD line is above its signal line since June 15, 2018. This is an indication that the short-term trend is up. The distance between MACD and the signal line is relatively high, but getting smaller. It indicates that the current short-term uptrend is still strong, and momentum is beginning to wane.

The distance between the Bollinger Bands is 120.66% higher then one year average. It indicates the period of high volatility of the stock price. The Bollinger Bands are often used with a non-oscillator indicator like chart patterns or a trendline. The signals are considered more reliable if these indicators confirm the recommendation of the Bollinger Bands. Use the following links to access the Bollinger Bands Help, or use the Technical Stock Screener to see the list of stocks with the price above the Upper Bollinger Band or below the Lower Bollinger Band.

During the last week, the 20 Day Moving Average has advanced above the 50 Day Moving Average. Such crossover is considered a bullish signal. The moving average crossover signals work better when the stock develops a strong trend, but they are ineffective when the stock is in a trading range. Moving average crossover systems can be effective, but should be used in conjunction with trend patterns, momentum indicators, candlesticks and other aspects of technical analysis. Use the following links to access Moving Average Crossover trading technique, or use the Technical Stock Screener to see the list of stocks with the Moving Average close to the price level.
